From the ledger to financial statements.
One clean file, start to finish: trial balance, adjustments, compilation engagements (CSRS 4200), financial statements and taxes. The modern alternative to CaseWare and Excel workbooks, for firms across Canada.
Trial balance: It balances, or it doesn't pass.
Import from QuickBooks, Sage or a CSV. The original balance stays intact; every balance traces back to its source.
Trial balance
Adjusting entries: Every entry carries its reason.
Numbered, supported, tied to the caption and typed: adjustment, prior-year, reclassification, operation, intercompany.
Groupings (GIFI / IGRF): The core that ties it together.
The GIFI / IGRF skeleton links the trial balance to the statements and the tax software. Eight balance checks watch continuously.
Financial statements: The statements assemble themselves.
One report built from the accounts: cover page, CSRS 4200 compilation engagement report (the successor to the Notice to Reader), income statement, balance sheet, retained earnings, and the notes generated automatically. Bilingual, print-ready.
The engagement forms, in the file.
The compilation (CSRS 4200) forms and letters are included, prefilled from the file and carried from last year. The review (CSRE 2400) is available as an add-on.
Tax · GIFI: GIFI, ready for your tax software.
Ledger doesn't compute the tax: it produces the GIFI from the statements, ready to import into TaxPrep, ProFile, Cantax… and posts the tax entries in one click. Federal and provincial.
Bookkeeping: Full bookkeeping, built in.
From bank import to sales-tax filing: a full module that traditional suites like CaseWare don't have.
Working papers: A complete library.
Every sheet is already built: you enter the values, and the calculations, N-1 continuity and adjusting entry take care of themselves.
Client invoicing: Your invoices, clean and paid.
Build the invoice in a few fields: GST and QST compute themselves, it goes out by email and pushes to QuickBooks in one click.
Every engagement in one place.
The pipeline follows each engagement to filing: deadlines calculate themselves, recurring work is created on time, and everyone sees their workload for the week. Included in both plans.
A client portal in your name.
Your clients receive their documents, upload their files, sign and write to you in one place, and the reminders go out on their own. Included in the Premium plan.
The old way, rethought.
What firms tell us about Excel workbooks and installed suites: slow, lost files, cost, endless training. Here's the difference.

How much does Ledger cost?
Two plans, billed per firm, one user included. Standard: $1,500 per year, plus $500 per additional user. Premium, which adds the client portal and questionnaires: $2,000 per year, plus $750 per additional user. Both are also available monthly: $150 or $200 per month, plus $50 or $75 per additional user. All the file work is included in both plans.
How does the free trial work?
45 days, no credit card. Fill in the form: we open your account, usually the same day, and offer you a one-hour video conference walkthrough to get started.
Does Ledger produce the CSRS 4200 compilation engagement report?
Yes. The compilation engagement report under CSRS 4200, which replaces the Notice to Reader, is part of the financial statement package. It comes with the cover page, income statement, balance sheet, retained earnings and notes, in English or French, ready to print.
Can Ledger replace CaseWare or my Excel workbooks?
Yes, that is what it is built for. Trial balance, adjusting entries, working papers, financial statements and GIFI come together in one online file. No install, no VPN, no Citrix.
How do I move my existing files?
Export the trial balance from CaseWare, your workbook or Sage to Excel or CSV, then import it into Ledger along with the prior year for comparison. For QuickBooks Online, the connection is direct. We guide you during the walkthrough.
Does Ledger work with QuickBooks?
Yes, with QuickBooks Online. You import a client's trial balance, then send your adjusting entries back to their QuickBooks once the file is done. Your firm's invoices can also be sent there in one click.
Does Ledger prepare tax returns?
Ledger does not replace your tax software. It produces the GIFI from the financial statements, ready to import into TaxPrep, ProFile or Cantax, for the federal T2 and the provincial return (CO-17, AT1). Tax entries are posted in one click.
Where is our data hosted?
In Canada. It is encrypted and backed up automatically. Your firm can also require two-factor authentication for the whole team.
Are new features coming?
Yes. Review engagements (CSRE 2400) are available as an add-on, and we add new options every week. Missing a feature? Tell us: we will gladly look at it with you and build it in, so all our clients benefit.
Two plans, clear pricing.
Billed per firm: one user included, add more as needed. Both plans include all the file work; Premium adds the client portal and questionnaires.
